Acquisition. Discovered in 1981; excavation circumstances unrecorded. One sandstone "Ban Liang" coin mold was recovered: roughly rectangular, tile-shaped in cross-section on the back, missing its head end, with a surviving length of 26.5 cm, width 12.4 cm, and thickness 3 cm. The front is ground smooth and incised with 3 rows of 25 coin cavities connected by tree-branch-like sprue channels. The coins are round, 2.5 cm in diameter, with a square perforation 1 cm on a side, the seal-script characters 半两 (Ban Liang) incised to left and right. A small round pit at the center of the perforation is a drill-point mark from a compass tool. (See Kaogu yu Wenwu, 1982, Issue 4.)
