城关镇Chengguan Zhen (Chengguan Town)

窖藏，5月11日,河南省社旗县城关镇一街窑场在东寨墙外取土做砖坯时,于距地表一米左右的小土坑内挖出一批战国时期的布币。社旗县博物馆当即派人赶赴现场,经收集共67枚,全部为梁正尚金当,其中完整者56枚。 这批梁正尚金当的形制均为平首、圆肩、弧裆、方足,正面钱文为大篆书体,其中又可分有穿、无穿、及周边带郭三类(如右图)。布币每枚重12至15克之间不等,通长5.8、身长4.1、足宽4厘米左右。据钱币学家朱活先生在《古钱新证》中考证,这批货币为公元前362年魏惠王迁都大梁之后所铸制。 社旗县是解放后新建置的一个县,位于今南阳县的东部,历史上隶属宛县。战国时期这里经常是楚、韩、秦、魏等大国角逐争夺的地方。魏国梁布,过去在这里也曾有一些零星的发现,但大都是在废品门市部中拣选的,如梁夸。当、梁夸金当等。此次出土的这批窖藏魏国布币,虽然种类单纯,但数量多,且是梁正尚金当迄今发现位置最南的一处。

Hoard. On May 11, a group of Warring States period spade coins was dug up from a small pit about one meter below the surface at the No. 1 Street brickyard in Chengguan Town, She Qi County, Henan Province, while workers were removing soil outside the eastern stockade wall to make bricks. The She Qi County Museum immediately dispatched staff to the site and collected a total of 67 coins, all of the "Liang Zheng Shang Jin Dang" type, of which 56 were intact. These "Liang Zheng Shang Jin Dang" spade coins all have a flat head, rounded shoulders, an arched crotch, and square feet; the obverse inscriptions are in large seal script, and can be further divided into three types: with a hole, without a hole, and with a rimmed border (see figure at right). Each coin weighs between 12 and 15 grams, with an overall length of about 5.8 cm, a body length of about 4.1 cm, and a foot width of about 4 cm. According to numismatist Zhu Huo's research in "New Evidence on Ancient Coins," this currency was cast after King Hui of Wei moved his capital to Daliang in 362 BCE. She Qi County was newly established after Liberation, located in the eastern part of present-day Nanyang County, and historically was under the jurisdiction of Wan County. During the Warring States period, this area was frequently contested among the major powers of Chu, Han, Qin, and Wei. Wei-state Liang spade coins had previously been found here sporadically, but mostly were picked out from waste-recycling shops, such as the "Liang Kua Dang" and "Liang Kua Jin Dang" types. Although this newly excavated hoard of Wei-state spade coins is limited to a single type, it is large in quantity, and represents the southernmost findspot of "Liang Zheng Shang Jin Dang" coins discovered to date.
