Uncertain; the city site is roughly circular in plan, about 1,500 m north-south. The city wall was built of rammed earth, 22 m wide at the base, with a surviving width of 6 m at the top and a surviving height of 1-10 m. Artifacts collected within the city mostly date from the Warring States to Han periods, including bronze pots, knife coins, and pottery fragments. The pottery includes sand-tempered and clay-paste gray cord-marked li tripods, guan jars, pen basins, banwa and tongwa roof tiles, and plain-surface dou dishes. A small number of Tang-dynasty blue-glazed porcelain bowl fragments were also collected. Historical records state that a Zheng settlement already existed here in the Warring States period, belonging to Zhao; the Han established Zheng County, the Tang established Zhengzhou, and it was abolished in the Song. This city site should be the ancient walled town of Zheng County spanning the Warring States to Tang periods.
