Description

Uncertain; surface-collected. The city site consists of two enclosures of different sizes: a small city to the south, 145 m east-west by 132 m north-south, and a large city, 285 m east-west by 220 m north-south. Large quantities of pottery sherds are scattered on the surface; the coins were all acquired by the Huanghua Municipal Museum. In the Han dynasty a Salt Commissioner (yanguan) was established at Zhangwu to manage salt production. Given the Warring States remains found within the city, the founding of the ancient city of Zhangwu may date as early as the Warring States period.
