Shuijingzhu (Commentary on the Water Classic) quotes Zhushu Jinian (Bamboo Annals), “In the ninth year of King Huicheng of Liang, (Wei/Liang) gave Yuci and Yangyi to Zhao”. Yuanhe juanxian tuzhi元和郡縣圖志 records that the city of Yangyi is located 15 li (around 8 km) southeast of Taigu太谷 county. The Jingxin Temple净信寺 in present-day Yangyi Town陽邑鄉 has two Tang-dynasty steles, and the inscriptions state that this is the site of Yangyi City.
