Xidu is affiliated with the Xihe prefecture in the Western Han Dynasty. The location of the Xidu county has long been debated because the transmitted text does not provide details for the specific location. Ai Chong identifies it with the Chejiaqu city site, while Ma Menglong marks it at the Haojiagatai city site. However, in recent years, the Yulin Institute of Archaeology conducted a survey in the Qiaotoumao city site, collecting pottery shards with “Xidu” inscription. The discovery disprove previous assumptions and suggests that the Qiaotoumao city site is the Xidu county in the Han Dynasty. Near the Qiaotoumao city site, local museums has reported findings of bronze vessels dating to the 5th century BCE, suggesting that the history of the city can be traced back to the Warring States period.
