Description

According to the Kuodizhi, Puban was located approximately 1 km south of Puzhou County. The site of Puzhou County has been identified about 1 km southwest of Xixiang Village in present-day Puzhou Town. Transmitted historical sources indicate that the location of Puban County remained unchanged until the Qing dynasty. The Atlas of Chinese Cultural Relics dates the city to the Tang–Ming periods. However, no systematic archaeological survey or excavation has yet been conducted in this area. Nevertheless, many artifacts have been discovered in nearby Xujiaya Village, a village close to the Puzhou County, including chariot fittings with gold and silver inlay, belt hooks, and coins. These finds may indicate the location of the ancient city of Puban.
